Abstract

Motorized off-road tourism has emerged as one of the most rapidly developing segments of adventure tourism offers excitement and activities for different groups and types of tourists interested in nature experiences. Off-road driving, when done without any regulation, can be seen to have several negative impacts on the surrounding environment, people, and their history. In this study, materials on/of off-roading tourism will be reviewed, stakeholder roles will be looked at, and relevant technologies identified. The study was conducted using a qualitative thematic approach following PRISMA guidelines; it screened 15 academic and field-based articles that centered on sustainable tourism, adventure tourism, and stakeholders. Some of the fields to emerge as most important comprise understanding and involve stakeholders, local communities, DMCs, and retailers. Education technology like GPS applications and learning applications became useful in facets like safety, planning of routes, and awareness of physical surroundings. I also learned that ecotourism templates and good training plans were also part of the key success factors. The study therefore established that sustainable off-roading tourism is possible through shared participation in decision making concerning the tourist activities, focused awareness creation as well as use of technology. It provides for the possibility to promote and achieve sustainable use of resources in the context of the world’s economic development process. Future research in this area should adopt an empirical research approach and work on enhancing the formulation of the policy norms for ethical practice across the different zones.
